Recent OSAC Stockholm Activities

For the U.S. Embassy in Stockholm, Sweden, the Regional Security Officer Michael Reimer, Assistant Regional Security Officer James Guanci and Office Manager Gosia Lamot direct an active OSAC program with the private sector.  Below are some recent OSAC events:

                  

January 13, 2009 – The OSAC meeting began with Pal  Jebsen discussing the new business and introducing the Assistant Regional Security Officer, James Guanci.  The Regional Security Officer then briefed the council on the current threat environment.  Topics for discussion at the 2009 OSAC Nordic Summit were considered.  The OSAC also discussed upcoming plans to hold the next council meeting at the Stockholm NASDAQ.  Telia Sonera hosted the meeting.

 

October 21, 2008 – The OSAC meeting began with OSAC President Pal Jebsen  welcoming new members and the new Regional Security Officer, Michael Reimer.  The Regional Security Officer briefed the council on the current threat environment.  The OSAC council reviewed the results from the September Summit.  It was noted that the first day had 60 participants and the second day over 100.  After reviewing the accomplishments, discussion shifted to the 2009 OSAC Summit to be held in Helsinki, Finland and subjects to be discussed.  The primary subject of consideration was Russia and its impact on security in the Baltic region. Telia Sonera hosted the meeting.

 

September 4-5, 2008 – The American Chamber of Commerce in Sweden, in cooperation with the Overseas Security Advisory Council (OSAC) and the US Embassy, held a security briefing as part of the OSAC Nordic Summit in Stockholm on Friday, September 5.   The Summit was well attended and received very good feedback.  The conference, entitled “Personal Integrity vs. Global Security” covered a range of topics ranging from preventative security to protection of supply chains. 

Day one started with a closed session for OSAC country councils to discuss global security & financial markets, brand protection in a complex security environment, and protecting your supply chain from counterfeiting. Day one ended with a cruise through the pristine Swedish archipelago and a traditional crayfish dinner at Vaxholms Castle

Day two featured an open breakfast seminar, entitled “Personal Integrity vs. Global Security” which covered a range of topics, from preventative security to protection of supply chains. 

 

The conference was opened by Todd J. Brown, OSAC Executive Director, and moderated by Mary Hackman, Senior Regional Coordinator, Middle East and Africa for the OSAC Research and Information Support Center (RISC) – both from Washington D.C.
